Fishing in Gladstone region has been red hot with many quality fish weighed in for the annual Boyne Tannum Hookup. Lots of people were restricted to the estuaries however for the people that braved the ordinary conditions the rewards were exceptional. Great numbers of reef fish were bagged and the odd monster as well. One of the stand out fish being a 14kg red emperor cleaned ... what a horse! The estuaries also produced some great fish with some beautiful grunter and mangrove jack weigh in. It also seems the winter bream have started to move in.
The harbour is fishing very well for black jew, fingermark and barramundi especially around the deeper holes. If you are up in the shallows you may jag a salmon as they move in with this cooler weather. So all in all the fishing has been great therefore it's definitely worth getting out for a crack.
