FISHING REPORT- January 2018

Great to see quality Mud Crab being caught, recent storms & big tides will push crab up into the Mangroves so set your pots well inside the Mangrove line if possible & safe to do so. Creeks & river fishing have been providing great catches of Grunter & Jack with all systems active including, Calliope River, the Narrows, Boyne River & South Trees. Surface or suspending lures seem to be best for Jack with ZipnZiggies & Lucky Craft Sammy 85 getting a result. Grunter are around the channel markers & finding them on the sounder shouldn’t be too hard. These are big Grunter & 90mm, 35g Strada Blades are doing the job. Storms, wind & run are making reef fishing difficult and any window of opportunity should be taken advantage of because they have been fishing well.
