Fishing Report- September 2017
The weather has been absolutely beautiful and the fish have been biting!
There are reports of the estuaries producing some beautiful Grunter and Mangrove Jack over the past couple of weeks. The Grunter have been taken on both fresh bait and lures with neap tides being the more favourable time to chase them. The deeper banks of the estuaries seem to hold numbers of medium size class fish where the larger fish seem to be pushing up over the gravel bars on the making tides. If you’re into chasing Mangrove Jack then now is the time as they are starting to show up in force. Some absolutely cracking fish are being taken on top water lures and shallow diving hard bodies. There have been a few opportunities for people to head offshore and lets just say this has produced a lot of colour in their eskies. The Coral Trout are on the chew and these are some of the hotspots where they have been about, Rock cod shoals, Masthead Island, Douglas Shoals and Sykes Reef.
Hopefully everyone gets out enjoying this beautiful warmer weather we are having.
