Meet The Team
I'm the chief fire fighter around the business.
Our family has a long association with Gladstone. My father was born here and sailed and fished around the harbour. And Pat, a cousin started the shop in 1974. I got an Ugly Stik from him a few years later (recently restored). Fishing was always something I managed to do. Kym and I moved from Toowoomba to Yeppoon with our two children in 2000. Enjoying fishing with my kids and friends became a whole lot easier.
In 2010 Kym and I took on Pat's TackleWorld Gladstone where we've enjoyed the support of the Gladstone community. You can't help but learn a lot from the locals and the staff and then get to share that every day. Trips with some great anglers from TackleWorld has also been invaluable experience: targeting snapper and blue cod in New Zealand, sail fish in the South China Sea and fishing of Rottnest Island, Fremantle for the West Australia dhufish.
Mostly while in the shop I get to talk about fishing which is great, however football is another topic that gets people going. Those of you who have spent time with me will know I've had a passionate and deep association with Rugby League, coaching and playing and with lots of great friends and experiences. Fishing and football...it's a great combination.
Hi I'm Dylan Christie and I am a born and bred local. I have had a passion for fishing as long as I can remember chasing bread and butter species as a young fellow. Most of my focus is now on offshore fishing as I enjoy the broad range of species with my favourite being coral trout. I also enjoy any other type of surface fishing mainly for the visual aspect whether it be whiting and flathead on the flats to barramundi and mangrove jack in the heavy structure.
I really enjoy helping others with the fishing gear they need to capture their target species, that's why I enjoy being part of such a great team at Pat's TackleWorld. It has been my workplace for the past 8 years.
If you can't find me here at Pat's TackleWorld you can guarantee you will find me on the water. Come in and see me at the shop, I am always up for a chat....just ask the other guys.
Hello keen fishos my name is Michael Clarke.
I grew up and spent my whole life fishing Baffle Creek....going up creeks in the summer chasing barra, jacks and prawns, then in winter working on the beach with the mullet pros and fishing isolated inshore reefs in my tinny. I learnt a lot along the way.
I'm new to the shop so I am still learning new tricks of the trade everyday, especially from the other blokes in the shop. They are freaks when it comes to fishing. This has me looking forward to getting some fellow fishermen onto some great catches that we can hopefully hear about in the shop - that's always good.
Besides the fishing stuff, I’m the guru at getting the stock into the shop and knowing what we’ve got.
I’m literally the Grandfather (3 children and 6 grandchildren) in the PTWG Team for the last 4 years and I can safely say I’ve also logged the most fishing time! Coming to Gladstone from Rockhampton in 1976 I’ve fished Central Queensland waters for most of my life. In 1994 I joined the Gladstone Sports Fishing Club. Over 10,000 tagged and released fish of several species (kept just as many too …Yum), I’m still involved and still love it. I also like making and using my own lures. It’s a great feeling catching something and also gives me an appreciation of the lures we sell in the shop.
Proof that you can balance life and fishing, I’m 33 years married with a golf handicap of 14 and support the mighty North Queensland Cowboys and the Heat Cricket Team (Big Bash).
