Fishing Report 17th August 2018

Fishing Report

The beautiful weather continues and the fish are on the chew, what more could you ask for. The offshore fishing has been exceptional with some great captures coming in from out wide. Hot spots at the moment include Sykes Reef, Douglas Shoals and Masthead Island. Inshore is continuing with the large numbers of Spanish Mackerel as well as some beautiful Nannygai, Grunter, Cobia and the odd Snapper coming from the wrecks. There are also a few pelagics slipping into the Harbour chasing bait balls. Queenfish can be a great fun target on top water lures and soft plastics, with plenty being caught throughout southern end of the Harbour and North entrance. Big Bream are thick in the local estuaries at the moment and best targeted with fresh Herring and Gar or the good old Prawn.
