Fishing Report

The school holidays were a hit with beautiful weather, the local kids got stuck into all of the bread and butter species. The mouth of the Boyne River produced some excellent Bream fishing with a run of large fish moving in along with some quality Flathead and even the odd Blue Salmon. With the stable winter weather there has been plenty of opportunity to get offshore, and by the sounds of it everyone has had a chance to get out. Popular areas producing fish have been Rock Cod Shoals, Douglas Shoals, Jenny Lind Banks and if it’s Spanish mackerel you're after, Rundle Island is the go to at the moment. Bigger Salmon are starting to move through into the creeks and through to the Narrows. Calliope River around the hot water outlet is a hot spot this time of year for schooling fish along with some monster Queenfish that will put on spectacular aerial displays especially on stickbaits and poppers.
