Fishing Report – 26th July 2018

Fishing Report

Exceptional weather has had just about everyone in the region head offshore and can you blame them? The reef fishing at the moment is great with some great reports of mixed bags coming from Rock Cod Shoals, Sykes Reef and Douglas Shoals. We have had a lot of people come through talking about the big inshore Spanish Mackerel, if you haven’t had a crack at them yet now is the time! Hot spots over the past week are Rundle Island, Bustard Head and Cabbage Patch. Fresh local Wolf Herring seem to be the go to bait at the moment, but it's always worth using a skipped Gar and even put a couple of lures in your spread as when these fish are on the chew, they usually aren’t too picky. The wrecks are worth a look if you're heading out the front as they are also fishing well for Nannygai, Snapper, Grunter, Black Jew all the Trevally species as well as some extra large Cobia.
